Your AI budget tripled. See real usage patterns with Harmonic.

AI spend is now a major P&L line item—but most teams can't show what it's producing.

Harmonic Security maps AI activity to use cases and teams, revealing real productivity, shelfware, data risk, and adoption trends across approved and unapproved tools.

Big Tech & AI 📱

SpaceXAI shipped Grok 4.6, now tied with GPT-5.6 Sol for third on the Artificial Analysis leaderboard. Pricing lands at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output, roughly a third of Sol's standard tier. Grok is now available in Cursor, Grok Build, and via API with doubled usage for a week.

Scortier's Take: The interesting thing this week isn't any single model release, it's the compression. Three frontier launches (Grok 4.6, Gemini 3.7 Flash, GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast) all landing on the same benchmarks with radically different price and latency profiles. If you're still hard coding one provider into your agent stack, you're leaving money on the table. Build the router first, pick the model second.

OpenAI and Cerebras launched GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast, delivering 750 output tokens per second, roughly 14x standard tier speed. The gain comes from Cerebras's on chip SRAM architecture eliminating memory bandwidth bottlenecks. Real time incident response, security triage, and voice agents all move from "annoying pause" to "instant" at this token rate.

Google released Gemini 3.7 Flash three weeks after 3.6, dropping input pricing to $0.75 per million tokens through year end and tightening coding and agent performance. Rapid iteration plus aggressive introductory pricing is Google's playbook for staying in the frontier conversation. If you're on Flash 3.5 or 3.6 for background agent work, the upgrade is essentially free.

Anthropic's rumored September or October IPO could price at up to $2 trillion, with analysts pointing to a $100 to $120 billion annualized revenue run rate exit for 2026. If it prints, this is the largest single company IPO in tech history and the first honest look at frontier lab unit economics. The S-1 will be the most read financial document of the year.

Engineering & System Design 🚀

Tailscale's team spent six months hunting a data corruption bug that turned out to be a 16 year old flaw in SQLite's WAL reset logic. The post walks through the reproduction, the collaboration with SQLite maintainers, and the fix. If you use SQLite at scale, especially with backup and restore flows, read this before your next production incident.

Cloudflare built an AI subagent pipeline that reproduces bugs, diagnoses root causes, and drafts fixes, taking Astro's issue count from over 200 to about 30. The subtle insight buried in the post is that agent failures become useful signals about missing tests and opaque abstractions in your codebase. Even if you don't automate triage, use the failures as a code health dashboard.

Yelp documented how it moved its Flow monorepo to TypeScript package by package over three years while keeping type integrity across the boundary. The playbook is applicable to any big language or framework migration where you can't stop the world. Every incremental migration project should read this before the first PR.

Dev Tools & Programming 💻

DeepSeek Harness is an open source agent framework where models, tools, and schedulers are all pluggable. Every session logs full action provenance. This is DeepSeek's answer to Claude Code and Cursor, but the plugin architecture and open source status make it the reference for anyone building their own coding agent stack.

Zed launched Delta, letting multiple developers and AI agents edit the same file simultaneously with synced conversations and context aware comments. This is the pair programming primitive rebuilt for the agent era. If you're on VS Code and your team is dividing work between humans and agents, this is the tool to try next.

Vercel open sourced Foreman, a template that wires up Classifier, Analyst, Implementer, and Reviewer agents against GitHub and Linear issues to produce reviewed PRs. Human judgment stays in the loop at decision points. If you've been meaning to prototype an internal agent that ships small fixes end to end, don't build it from scratch, fork this.

Miscellaneous 🎁

David Tolnay published Meta's internal language adoption trends. TypeScript grew +1,200% in recent months, Rust continues to climb, and Haskell and Java are in steady decline. If you're picking a stack for a new service at a big tech shop today, this is the tea leaves. Follow the migration flows, not the vibes.

Analysis argues AI acceleration lets weak engineering decisions ship faster, making the mid tier engineer riskier to hire. Funding consolidates around small teams of senior engineers who can direct agents effectively. Whether or not you buy the framing, it's a real signal for how to invest in your own skill development this year.

Lovable raised at a $13 billion valuation and is tracking toward roughly $600 million in annualized revenue by month end. This is the highest priced prompt to app tool on the market, ahead of Replit, Bolt, and V0. The category isn't a demo anymore, it's a real product line with real revenue and real defensibility questions.

Microsoft's medium sized reasoning model targets cost efficient enterprise deployment on coding, math, and knowledge tasks, joining its Maia chip strategy.

OpenAI's annualized revenue doubled from 2025 on coding tool expansion, subscription growth, and emerging ad revenue, setting up its IPO run.

X released its "For You" ranker and lets users check whether their account was throttled, expanding its earlier partial open source push.
